The Expression of T-Helper Associated Transcription Factors and Cytokine Genes in Pre-Eclampsia
Authors
Abstract:
Background: Pre-eclampsia (PE) is known as a main factor contributing to fetomaternal mortality, which might affect 2-8% of all pregnancies after the twentieth week of gestation. The balance of T helper subsets is essential to sustain a normal pregnancy and preventing fetomaternal complications. Objective: To investigate differences in the levels of transcription factors and cytokine gene expression of Th1/Th2/Th17/Treg subsets within decidual and chorionic layers of placentas from 15 PE-afflicted and 15 healthy Iranian women in their third trimester of pregnancy. Methods: Using Quantitative real-time PCR (Q-PCR), The expression of T-BET, GATA-3, ROR-ɣt, FOXP3, and cytokines, including IL-1, IL-6, TNF-α, IFN-γ, IL-4, IL-31, IL-17, IL-23, TGF-β1, TGF-β2, TGF-β3, and IL-35 in the placenta were compared at mRNA levels between groups. Results: FOXP3 and GATA-3 were significantly down-regulated, while T-BET was up-regulated in PE deciduae compared to the control group (p

full textExpression of Th1 and Th2 Cytokine and Associated Transcription Factors in Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells and Correlation with Disease Severity
Background: Psoriasis is a T cell-mediated autoimmune disease with elevated level of pro-inflammatory cytokines belonging mainly to Th1 pathway. We investigated whether treatment with micronutrients along with methotrexate (MTX) is able to modulate mRNA expression of Th1 and Th2 patterns and its correlation with disease severity. Methods: Thirty plaque type psoriasis patients with Psoriasis ...
full textPolymorphisms of T helper cell cytokine-associated genes and survival of hemodialysis patients – a prospective study
BACKGROUND Circulating pro-inflammatory cytokines were associated with increased relative mortality risk, while immune parameters reflecting improved T-cell function were predictors of survival in hemodialysis (HD) patients. We evaluated in the prospective study whether variants in T helper cell cytokine-associated genes are determinants of mortality in HD patients. METHODS The study was carr...
full textExpression of cytokine genes, cytokine receptor genes, and transcription factors in cultured Hodgkin and Reed-Sternberg cells.
In the present study, we show by Northern blot analysis and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay that the Hodgkin's disease (HD)-derived cell lines HDLM-2 and KM-H2 express a variety of cytokine genes either constitutively or upon induction with phorbol ester 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate. Cytokine genes expressed by HD-derived lines include granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor ...
full textcontribution of setting to the study of characters and the main idea in e. brontes: wuthering heights and t. hardys: return of the native.
this thesis aims to adduce an unmitigated and comprehensive explication concerning the relationship of three significant elements of fiction: setting, chracter and theme. my research is basically placed on two outstanding novels of the 19th century: emily brontes wuthering heights and thomas hardys return of the native. my endeavour lies in studying the correlation among the three above-mention...
